As Someone who have taken Biological Stream for GCE A/L and as someone who have taken it a year early than whatever that is considered ‘proper’ , Many People have asked how did you did it, and ,more importantly why did you did it?
While we are not going to see about the first query now , we are going to investigate regarding the assumptions surrounding the later.
GCE A level is considered the gateway for higher studies in Sri Lanka and Biological Science Stream is considered ‘tough’ here , though what exactly they mean by it ,we need to go ask those who consider it to be so.
This is not to say there are only unicorns and rainbows in Biological Science Stream nor in its sibling Stream, Physical Science.
If one considers the O level Exam which students here in Srilanka take at their 11th grade and A level which they usually take after two and a half years ,it is in a level altogether different, that’s true ,but is it a reason to put something in a basket called ‘tough’ and call those excel in these ‘nerds’?
Don’t consider so.
If you look carefully , you would see , yes there’s a whole new level of relative complexity and rigor in these streams ,but with proper preparation and appropriate practice ,one could do really well on these with out turning the whole thing in to a grudge.
How it can be done , we we’ll see in the upcoming posts.
