Today We are going to explore What Math Olympiad really is all about , is it truly a necessity or just another form of intellectual acrobatics?
First of all , let’s see why bother with it in the first place , after all don’t the middle schoolers have already too much in their plates?
If we consider the intellectual development of Secondary School Students, there are a certain percentile of students who just do too well in Math ,relative to others of same age group.
We can choose to foster their talents , through giving them the arena to explore what they are enthusiastic about or not.
And the consequences will be according to what we do today.
It’s not that they will end up being a professional Mathematicians , just because they are good at it.
Rather they would develop the sort of certainty that says ,if you try long enough persistently with openness and a variety of approaches, you are bound to solve even the challenges what others consider too difficult or not possible.
This would help them in every possible way when it comes to their higher studies or careers.
Whether they choose to become a Doctor or Choose to Master a Piece of Technology ,this Openness will definitely come to their aid.
And that is What we are trying to help them develop in themselves : An Openness to Challenge and a Flexibility to Consider Various Perspectives.
