As this being the Season of A-levels and the beginning of many degree programs island-wide, we have decided to publish more interviews with the top A level performers in these days.
In that regard, we’ll explore the responses we have received for our key questions from Hasfa in today’s post. Another brilliant student from Kattankudy, who is beginning her journey as a Medical Student in University of Colombo, Hasfa will be answering our questions today.
RG : Hasfa, What you consider , you have did right in your time as an A level student??
HF : The thing that I have done right was practicing doing past papers of all subjects many times—as much as doing 5 times for many.
RG : What would you do differently if you get another chance as an A level student?
HF : If I get another chance, I would do my best to finish all syllabus, at least 3 months prior to the final exam. It was a huge disaster to complete the syllabus near the last periods of final exam. So, it would be the main thing—I would do differently.
RG : What is the most significant thing you would say for a current aspiring A level student?
HF : Ensure to cover your entire syllabus completely before the final exams—especially in Biology. Focus on the expected questions significantly—Work on all three subjects daily—with a schedule. Invest more time to the subject—that’s most challenging to you.
Give priority for past papers—despite there being a large amount of model papers. And Above all ensure to manage your time and stress levels properly.
RG : What single technique or practice you would recommend for an Aspiring student?
HF : The main practice which helped me most was using papers intelligibly. I made use of past papers a lot than model papers—For Chemistry I did 15 years of papers—each almost five times.
For Physics—I did a lot of MCQs from past papers and model papers. I didn’t repeat the same questions many times in Physics. Rather I ensured to practice with new questions for familiarizing deeply with the underlying ideas. For Biology—I practiced mostly with model papers. I used the past papers mostly for analyzing the question patterns and finding out the most probable questions for our finals.
P.S.: Our best wishes to Hasfa as she embarks on her academic journey from tomorrow.
